Dear colleagues,

ECOLAS is announcing the Call for Applications for the second round of THE 2021/2022 Julie Johnson Kidd Fellowship. Please apply and/or distribute this announcement.

We believe that the Liberal Arts and Sciences model has much to offer to the mono-discipline education that currently prevails in our universities. ECOLAS has issued the attached Manifesto that outlines the need for a reform of undergraduate education in Europe.

Based on the Manifesto, the 2021 J.J. Kidd Fellowship seeks to facilitate cooperation within Europe between scholars from Liberal Arts and mono-discipline programs. It offers grants for joint projects designed in cooperation between 2 scholars – one from a Liberal Arts programme and the other from any single discipline department. The two scholars should come from different institutions and special consideration will be given to applicants from different European countries. The aim is to apply some elements of Liberal Arts education in a mono-disciplinary university setting.

The first round of the J.J. Kidd Fellowships in the Spring has attracted several applications out of which 3 pairs of scholars were selected. There will be additional  4-5 Fellowships worth 1500 Eur each awarded this year. The Deadline for submission of applications is 20 January, 2022. The selection results will be published on 1 February, 2022.  The awarded applicants will be contacted by the ECOLAS office. Further instructions are on our website and also attached here (Call for applications, ECOLAS Manifesto, Application form). If you need more information, please write to info@ecolas.eu or call +421 905 727 785.

Sincerely,
