“Some of my colleagues and I at UC-Groningen are investigating career perspectives for academic staff. This involves rethinking and better formalizing issues such as the criteria and procedures for progressing from Assistant to Associate Prof., or Lecturer 2 to Lecturer 1, or jumping between AP and Lecturer lines. This naturally led us to wonder what the standards and procedures are at other UC’s. I wonder if this is matter UCANN might be interested in assisting with? There may be documents from each UC which could be aggregated in one place.”

At the UT, the Reward & Recognition movement is very much alive, but new standards and procedures seem not in place yet. Some of my colleagues have a part-time appointment, they are usually AP or higher. Full-timers (lecturers, not management) are all Lecturer 2. Lecturer 1 positions are very rare to non-existent. But I have heard rumours that that might change.
